Why I’m Giving Away Cards

I don’t like destroying cards. I don’t like losing money. That’s why I’m giving away cards. Let me explain.

I sometimes buy cards in bulk –  thousands of cards from some of these collects. As with most any collection, there is always going to be a certain number of cards that are not mint. Heck, some can’t even be called lightly played. Some are just downright ugly or as some people like to say “well loved.”

Some people would eventually toss those cards rather than sell them and I can see why. Given the options we have as sellers, selling a card for say 1-5 cents makes zero sense. In fact, I have admitted previously that if I sell a card for less than 9-11 cents, I generally lose money (if that was the only card purchased in a given order). You’d be surprised how many orders I get where all they buy is a single card for between 7 and 12 cents.

Because of this and because of the often limited amount of money I can charge for a heavily played to damaged card, in lieu of simply discarding them, I have decided to give them away as part of certain orders that come my way. There will be no minimum or maximum order amount or value. In other words, you could order $100 and get no extra card or you could order a 50 cent card from me and get one. I am making that decision at the moment I am putting together an order. If there is room in the package / envelope for an extra card with no additional cost to me, you may get a card.

Please to not place an order and ask for a specific card. That’s not going to happen as I only have so many options when it comes to what cards I have that fall into the damaged category. If an order is for Magic the Gathering cards, chances are I will include an additional MTG card. The same with go with each card game based on availability.

The point of all this is that while I cannot really make money off these cards, I figure if I give them away, even in their damaged state, someone out there may still have a use for it. After all, most played or damaged cards can still be used in decks. The only example would be if a card is so heavily damaged that any creases or chemical damage would interfere with the integrity of the game being played.

So if you do happen to order cards from me, you might just get a little surprise. It may useless to you, but who knows! I might even be something you can actually use. You can check out my card store on TCG Player or my much smaller Ebay store.
